The Road Starts Here
2010  |  university of florida  |  baseball

Once again, the Gators asked Summit to design all of their baseball materials for the upcoming season. For 2010, we needed to design and produce a 140-page media guide, as well as develop a comprehensive marketing campaign. And it needed to look great and be completed in less than a month. We think we hit a home run!

"We have really enjoyed our long standing relationship with the whole crew at Summit. They bring great passion and creativity to every project. We always seem to ask the impossible, whether it's the creative or the deadline, and time and time again they come through."

Assistant AD for Marketing
University of Florida

Key to the whole project was developing a theme that demonstrated the goals of the team but could also be illustrated with great visual impact. We created a custom graphic built from stone and asphalt to represent the long journey from Gainesville to the College World Series in Omaha. The Road Starts Here became a reminder that goals can be achieved if the team worked hard from the beginning of the season.

Once the theme was set and photographs were taken, we began immediately constructing the media guideMedia Guide. Covers and inside pages all needed to highlight the theme while also establishing the graphic style for the rest of the campaign.

While the media guide was in production, we needed to complete the season ticket postcardSeason Ticket Postcard so that it could be mailed before the season started. Next came the 20"x28" schedule posterSchedule Poster and schedule cardsSchedule Cards featuring select players. Finally, we put together a schedule magnetSchedule Magnet and some advertising shellsAdvertising Shells. The shells were B&W newspaper templates of various sizes that the Florida marketing department could easily modify throughout the season.

Like in years past, this baseball campaign really got people excited about the team and the upcoming games. The slogan and imagery reflected the seriousness of the athletes as they prepared for the season and made clear that their goal was nothing short of a trip to Omaha.
