Case Study No. 5

The Bulldogs were hosting the 2010 SEC Swimming & Diving Championships and needed something special to commemorate the important event. Summit worked with UGA to develop the This Year It's Here campaign and design the supporting print materials.

The theme's graphics were based around water droplets and type that looked like it had been written in water. This concept worked well because of the obvious connection to swimming & diving but also because it provided an opportunity to showcase the athletes in an interesting and memorable way.

As usual, we began by designing the schedule posterSchedule Poster. We featured several athletes as well as the pool that would be the location of the championship event. Once we established the layout of the piece we added realistic water droplets over the entire poster to make it look as if the poster had actually been at the meet. We gave the main headlines the same water droplet treatment that would be used throughout the rest of the campaign.

Next came the schedule cardSchedule Card and schedule magnetSchedule Magnet. Each piece featured a different combination of athletes but the overall look was similar to the poster. Once the marketing materials were complete, the UGA Sports Information office asked us to complete the media guide coversMedia Guide Covers in a similar style.

This campaign was successful because it had impact. The artwork was unique and distinctive and, most importantly, clearly communicated the importance of the championship event.
